Other Engagement Opportunities

Ways to Engage With Us

Although co-op is our cornerstone program, we regularly engage with employer and community partners to enhance mutually beneficial relationships that drive innovation, address industry challenges, and prepare the next generation of leaders.

Career fairs

Both the Toronto and Vancouver campuses host regular career fairs twice a year, typically in September and January, connecting directly with students and get to know them in person.

Participating in our career fairs (for free!) is an opportunity to raise brand visibility on campus, promote open roles, and connect with motivated candidates early in their career journey.

Employers can engage with students face-to-face, streamline their recruitment process, and build a pipeline for internships, co-op placements, and future hiring needs.

Basecamp program (Vancouver campus)

Northeastern University in Vancouver is proud to introduce the BaseCamp Studio Program, a dynamic initiative designed to connect organizations with specialized student talent. This innovative model provides hands-on, co-curricular basecamps that align with the evolving needs of partner companies.

Examples of Past Basecamps

Traction Complete Basecamp
Traction Complete has collaborated on multiple occasions, engaging two student cohorts to deliver tailored Studio opportunities. The first partnership began in October 2024, followed by a second in July 2025. Each engagement brought together six graduate students whose expertise was matched to the organization’s project goals.

Deloitte Basecamp
Our inaugural Studio was launched in partnership with Deloitte between December 2023 and July 2024. The project team included students from the Master of Science in Computer Science and Master of Professional Studies in Analytics programs.

Hackathons

Northeastern University in Vancouver hosts a number of hackathons each year in collaboration with industry partners. These time-bound innovation challenges typically run 24 to 48 hours and bring together student teams to develop creative solutions to real-world problems.

Designed in partnership with leading organizations, each hackathon features meaningful challenge statements that reflect current industry priorities.

Job shadowing or site visit

Northeastern University facilitates immersive job shadowing experiences and industry site visits that provide students with firsthand exposure to professional environments and emerging technologies.

Some of the benefits are: inspiring the next generation of professionals in your industry, building brand awareness among highly motivated graduate students, creating pipelines for future co-op and full-time recruitment.

Industry mock interview program (Vancouver campus)

The Industry Mock Interview Program connects graduate students with experienced industry professionals for one-on-one practice interviews. Offered during designated recruitment terms, the program provides either behavioral or technical interview simulations in a low-stakes setting.

Participating organizations contribute by sharing their expertise and supporting the professional development of students preparing to enter the co-op application process.

Professional mentorship program (Toronto campus)

The Professional Mentorship Program connects graduate students with experienced industry professionals for a six-month mentoring relationship. This program creates meaningful opportunities for professionals to share knowledge, provide guidance, and support the development of emerging talent.

By engaging as mentors, industry professionals contribute to the career readiness of students while also expanding their own networks and gaining insight into the perspectives of the next generation of professionals.
